ArcelorMittal in Brazil
ArcelorMittal Brazil is one of Latin America’s biggest steel producers, having more than 15 thousand employees and a production capacity in excess of 11 million tons a year. With industrial units in the states of São Paulo, Minas Gerais, Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo, the Company offers steel products and solutions for the segments of long products (rolled and drawn) and flat products (plates and rolled) for application in industries such as manufacturing of electric appliances, civil construction, agribusiness, shipbuilding, car making, among others.
ArcelorMittal Brazil is part of ArcelorMittal group and operates in Central and South Americas, in synergy with more than 30 business units, located in Argentina, Costa Rica, Trinidad & Tobago and Venezuela, all of which are certified by international standards ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS, relative to quality, environment, and health and occupational safety, respectively.
Yet, the Company operates in diversified fields such as:
- power generation for its own consumption;
- production of renewable bio-reductant (charcoal);
- information technology;
- social responsibility.
In the whole of the country, an extensive distribution and services network meets, with excellence, the demands from domestic and international markets.
ArcelorMittal Brasil Foundation
Created in 1988, ArcelorMittal Brazil Foundation develops social projects in the locations where ArcelorMittal is present, benefiting approximately 400 thousand people per year.
The Foundation’s main focus is the academic graduation of children and adolescents, so that they can become citizens who are more aware, productive and actively engaged.
Attentive to local needs, the Foundation promotes projects in the fields of education, culture, social promotion and sports, in partnership with the public authorities and institutions from third sector. The goal is to strengthen the local public policies and promote long-term and effectively transformative results, such as the transfer of methodologies to the towns receiving the aforesaid assistance.
For the development of social programs, the institution receives financial backing from ArcelorMittal. Aside from the resources made available by the sponsor, the Foundation also invests in partnerships that make possible the materialization of projects registered with the tax incentive laws.
There are also actions put on by the business units, resulting in programs on their own or developed in partnership with local institutions.
